"CAT5 is not about being keeping your head above the rest, it's about being the body of Christ." says Ben Finger, the assistant director Category Five Ministries based out of Eastern North Carolina. "CAT5 exists for the pastor, the youth pastor, the parachurch worker, and all those who are busy being and bringing about God's kingdom. We believe at CAT5 that if we as the body of Christ will come together, we can reach this world by providing opportunities for all to live in the bounty of God's kingdom. This, as a body, we can do."
In early 2005 the founder of CAT5, Austin Fletcher, began to envision what the world might look like if the followers of Christ unified. He expressed time and again that if the followers of Christ could come together then everyone may be presented with the best opportunities to enter and live in the kingdom of God.
Risking it all CAT5 began a journey to make a difference. With a handful of people they set out in rural Eastern North Carolina to spread the good news of what this world might look like if the followers of Christ can come together for the advancement of God's kingdom. Calling on family and friends for support they began to court local ministries with the vision of a unified body. Holding retreats, orchestrating joint ministerial events, supporting new ministries, and networking entities; CAT5 was launched. And people actually showed up!
CAT5 has totally been a God thing.
